This chic micro wedding in Colorado will have you ready to say “I do” in an intimate celebration with only your closest family and friends.
Over the last few years, micro weddings have become quite popular! Some people may say its rise in popularity is due to the pandemic, while others say it’s more that people have decided to celebrate their marriage in a way that feels authentic to them. No matter what the reasoning is as to why micro-weddings have exploded, I strongly believe they’re here to stay for years to come!
If you and your love are the sentimental, less is more type; then a micro wedding might be just your style. Micro weddings can be a lot more intentional than larger scale weddings purely because of the size. The smaller the event, the more budget you have to add unique details and flexibility to make choices that whole-heartedly represents you as a couple. Because of the flexibility and freedom it allows, many times couples choose to even have a destination micro wedding. So instead of spending just one day with family and friends, couples end up making it an entire weekend of festivities!
In fact, I’ve never had a couple who regretted having a micro wedding! They’ve usually been much happier and less stressed because they are able to make it exactly how they want it. In traditional weddings, it’s easy to get caught up in pleasing others (ie. a family member) or doing what someone else says you need to do for the sake of tradition (including inviting people who you hardly know but are told you need to invite them).
When you have a micro wedding, you can invite whoever you want, wherever you want, to celebrate however you want!
This chic, Vouge styled micro wedding took place at Greystone Castle in Boulder, Colorado. It’s up on Flagstaff Mountain, nestled behind the iconic Boulder Flatirons. This venue was the perfect location for a mirco wedding that felt like you were escaping to a private estate in the Colorado mountains, but it’s only a short drive away from the vibrant city of Boulder. They even have horses on their property!
For this micro wedding, I wanted to share more of my creative mindset when it came to designing it. While I normally tend to steer towards all neutrals with my design, for this one I wanted to emphasize colorful, floral garden vibes. When it comes to micro weddings, I’m obsessed with the concept of long tables for all the guests to gather around. To bring depth and texture to the elongated table, I layered it with with a messy satin tablecloth. One of the biggest wedding trends for 2024 is bows. So I wanted to be sure to include that detail in the tablescapes design!
We hosted the ceremony outside on the patio, overlooking the rolling hills and mountain views. Afterwards we headed inside for a romantic tablescape with cake and champagne tower to celebrate.
Keep reading to be inspired by all the intentional design elements!
